Rantac 300 contains Ranitidine which belongs to the group of medicines called H2 receptor antagonists. It is used in the treatment and prevention of intestinal, benign and post-operative ulcers. Peptic or intestinal ulcers are open sores that develop on the inside lining of your stomach and the upper part of your small intestine, causing stomach pain. Rantac 300 is also used to treat reflux oesophagitis (inflammation of lower food pipe due to backflow of acidic stomach contents) and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome (small tumour in the first part of your intestine due to excessive gastrin secretion). Your doctor may occasionally perform tests to make sure Rantac 300 is working and to prevent side effects. Visit your doctor routinely for a check-up. Avoid smoking during the treatment with Rantac 300, as it may delay healing or worsen the ulcers. Before taking Rantac 300, inform your doctor if you have stomach cancer, kidney, lung or immunity problems, porphyria (rare blood disorder) or diabetes.
