Stamlo 5 Tab contains Amlodipine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive agents. It is used to treat hypertension and certain type of angina (chest pain) called as Prinzmetal or variant angina. Hypertension (also known as high blood pressure) is a medical condition in which the force of the blood exerted against the walls of the arteries remains very high, and as a result it may lead to severe damage to the blood vessels supplying vital organs, such as heart, kidney or brain. If left untreated, it may cause serious complications such as heart attack, heart failure, stroke or even blindness. Angina is a type of chest pain caused due to decreased blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart muscles. It is characterized by a sharp chest pain originating from the heart and radiating until left shoulder along with severe chest tightness or heaviness, and difficulty in breathing. Take Stamlo 5 Tab as advised by your physician. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking Stamlo 5 Tab, as it could lead to unpredictable increase in the blood pressure lowering effects of Stamlo 5 Tab. Before taking Stamlo 5 Tab, inform your doctor if you have any liver problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have severe uncontrollable increase in blood pressure or recently had heart attack. Stamlo 5 Tab is not recommended for use in patients with other severe heart problems such as narrowing of heart valves or cardiogenic shock. It is also not suitable for use in patients with severe hypotension (low blood pressure). Consult your doctor before taking Stamlo 5 Tab if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of taking Stamlo 5 Tab are swelling of ankles or other body parts, headache, dizziness, sleepiness, tiredness, racing heartbeat, indigestion, constipation and muscle cramps. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects trouble you.
